Ferrero Chocolate faced a category-wide challenge – chocolate in general faces a summertime slump. Our strategy zeroed in on one of the biggest drivers (pun absolutely intended) of summer snacking – the family road trip. Their portfolio of beloved candy bars promised something for everyone for peak road trip harmony, but the real trick was convincing retailers to take the displays. So we created Chase The Chocolate Checkpoints, transforming displays into destinations with the promise of daily prize offerings, like custom collab bikes with State Bicycle Co., for every visit.

The program succeeded at gaining over 31 million impressions, increased incremental display placement, and increased dollar sales when the rest of the category declined. As a result of the increased sales, Ferrero brands’ dollar share during the 2024 Summer months increased by over 4%.
